Songs I Play & Music to Inspire : Helpless

Neil Young...one of Canada's best exports (along with their amazing beer) and Helpless is yet another of his epic ballads. For some reason this one seems especially haunting. Like the opening line "...there is a town in North Ontario" I spent a lot of time in Canada as a kid (Ontario to be exact) -- rockclimbing, canoeing, camping, and general rabblerousing. It's where we spent our summers and where my parents want their ashes scattered. Helpless has a lot of meaning for me (...blue blue windows behind the stars...). I don't have a lot of background on the song itself but I ran across this beautiful 4-part harmony version captured in a guitar shop in Saskatchewan. It's by Whitehorse and Noah Gundersen.
